I spent 3D2N at Hard Rock Hotel Penang and I can’t wait to share my experience of my stay with you.
Hard Rock Hotel Penang is located at the famous beaches of Batu Ferringhi. After about an hour’s drive and travelling just slightly more than 30km from Penang International Airport, we finally arrived at the hotel.
As we walked into the hotel, we were greeted by Hard Rock Hotel logo.
Then we came face to face with this big front desk cum bar that was staffed by friendly, cheerful and efficient staff.
Next to the front desk is a spacious lounge complete with sofa and big comfy chairs for guests to relax and have a drink which can be ordered from the bar at the front desk. There is live performance at the lounge every night from 7.45pm onwards.
I stayed in a Seaview Deluxe room. Paid corporate rate of RM570 nett per night for the room inclusive of breakfast. The room is spacious. It comes with TV, CD & DVD player for entertainment.
The king size bed is made up of two single beds but it’s soft and comfortable. They also provide 2 types of pillow – a fluffy soft type and one which is firmer.
The sofa and writing desk in the room are in the retro 70s style. There is a LAN cable for more secured internet access. WiFi is also available but internet speed is restriced to 512k.
Bathroom is spacious too with ample space on the wash basin to place your toiletries and make-up for the ladies. The mirror is moveable to function as a wall.
A bathtub is also available for guests to enjoy a long, lingering soaks but you need to bring your own bath salts though.
After a good long soak, guest can try on the bath robe to keep one warm while dressing up.
And of course, hotel provides coffee and tea as well as a kettle. The mini fridge was stocked up with carbonated soft drinks.
We get 2 bottles of mineral water daily in these unique twisted bottles.
As I stayed on level 2, the seaview from my room is being obstructed by the swimming pool and trees. So if you want a better view, ask for higher floor room but the top 2 floors are smoking floors.
Guests staying in rooms on level 1 can jump right into the pool from the room’s deck! For this convenience, one has to pay RM110 more.
If swimming is not your cup of tea, you can also workout in the hotel’s gym. The gym has 2 bicycles and 3 other cardio machines, equipment and weight training machines.
After working up an appetite in the gym, one can head to Starz Diner to fill up the tummy with an array of Asian and International cuisine.
This main diner seats 150 persons with an indoor air-conditioned seating area complemented by an outdoor seating area. Breakfast is served here daily. The spread was quite good with a mixture of Western and local food. However you get the same spread each day.
Another dining option is Hard Rock Café which is located adjacent to the hotel. The café is quite popular as it was almost full when we had dinner there on a Friday night. The tasty food and good service probably play a part to the café’s popularity.
Memorabilia from local and international artistes is displayed throughout the hotel.
The Beatles are the most popular artiste to be featured in this hotel. Why did I say so? Well there is a picture of them hanging in my room. There are 2 mosaic portraits and a bronze bust of them near Starz Diner. Statues of the band are also erected on the roof of the towel station near the pool.
Guests staying in this hotel also can access the public beach just a few steps away. Apart from swimming in the sea, guests can also try out the water sports, horse riding or even massage services offered by vendors along the beach.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay in this hotel as I received very good service from the well trained staff who are always cheerful and responsive.
