ibis Hong Kong North Point Hotel

For this trip, we chose to stay in Hong Kong island for a change.  As hotel rates have significantly increased since our last visit, we settled for ibis Hong Kong North Point Hotel.  Booked on Agoda and got a Standard Double Room for HKD570 per night (exclude 10% tax).

Hotel is located in North Point, which is slightly out of the tourist area. However it’s very easy to get around as North Point MTR station is only a few steps away. Just across the road, is a bus stop for Cityflyer A12. Cityflyer A11 also terminates at the North Point Ferry Pier bus terminal which is about 300m from the hotel. North Point tram stop is also located 2 blocks away.

There are plenty of eateries, shops and shopping malls within walking distance from the hotel such as the famous Tung Po Kitchen (东宝小馆), Hung’s Delicacies (阿鴻小吃) and Tim Ho Wan Dim Sum (添好運點心).

Stayed 3 nights in a non-smoking standard double room which we requested during booking.  Most floors are non smoking.  The room size is small with just enough space to put our luggage.

The narrow walkway into the room

The double bed is more like a large single bed.  Definitely not suitable for family with children as room has no space for extra bed.  The bed was comfortable though and we had a good night’s sleep.

The small double bed

There is a small fridge and kettle in the room. TV in the room has a few news channels such as Fox News, Sky News and France 24.

WiFi signal was strong and stable with decent internet connection speed. Our room was near the lifts/elevators.

Room and bathroom are clean and we had good housekeeping throughout our stay. Room has 3 power sockets.

The clean bathroom

The shower cubicle

Front office staff spoke good English and service was prompt. Check-in and check-out was easy and fast.

This is a no frills, value for money basic hotel for use as a base to explore Hong Kong.
